If you are at all familiar with the history of Pollença Bay then I am sure you have heard of the charismatic Illa d’Or hotel. It has enjoyed its beautiful and prominent setting at the end of the Pine walk overlooking the bay since 1929. You’ll have also no doubt heard that for nearly 100 years many illustrious guests have been charmed and inspired by the combination of the feeling of exclusivity, elegance and the personalised service.

Painters, artists, writers have laid their heads on their pillows including Agatha Christie, who wrote Trouble on Pollença Bay whilst staying there and its was also a favourite spot for Winston Churchill. Rest assured that the pillows have been changed since then 😊

Before moving to Pollença we stayed at the Illa d’Or for a few nights in late September 2017. It holds a special place in our lives as it was during this trip that we signed the contract to buy the house we now live in. The weather was beautiful and we certainly made the most of the seafront dining and savoured our Aperol Spritz on the terrace as we looked out over the stunning bay and mountains. It certainly helped to cement our decision to come and live in Mallorca.

Rooms

There are just over 100 rooms that offer a mixture of mountain and sea view, sea view with balcony and for a special treat they have a beautiful suite with a terrace looking over the bay. They also have a separate annex building with studio and one bedroom apartments.

Each room is fully equipped for a relaxing stay and with decor that creates a light filled, relaxed and elegant atmosphere.

Food Experience

Recently we had a fabulous dinner on the terrace to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday. It really is a beautiful setting as the sun drops behind the mountains and the bay takes on the most gorgeous pink glow. 

​

The terrace has had a bit of a makeover during the winter, ready for the 2022 season.  A lovely new outside bar and seating area has been created along the front of the hotel and of course the La Terrassa dining is still as spectacular as ever. What better way to spend a lunch or dinner then sitting right on the water edge.

Wellness

Plenty of opportunity to be pampered with a Spa that includes an indoor pool and a hydrothermal circuit with water jets, hydromassage beds, showers and saunas. Alternatively they also offer a range of massages and beauty rituals using plant based products.

​

Don’t forget they have the most beautiful Illaut, a traditional boat from Mallorca, that will take you to gorgeous little coves around the Bay.
