16th Pollensa Half Marathon

Last weekend, Pollensa hosted the 16th edition of its annual half marathon.

Approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, the closed course is fast with no real incline, so it is suitable for athletes of all categories. Totalling almost 1,000 participants, runners from all over the world took part including many from the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Argentina as well as many Spaniards from the mainland.



Among the international athletes whoi ran was Carles Castillejo - four time Oluympian and previous champion of Spain in various distances including the marathon. He was strong from the beginning and by the 5th kilometre was out front until he crossed the line in just 1:07.08.


In the women's category, islander Sebastyiana Labres won with a time of 1:21.52. In the 10km, Lisa Griffiths was the overtall winner in the women's category, running the distance in just 44 minutes, 36 seconds, 1.5 minutes faster than second placed runner who is also 15 years younger. Well done Lisa.
